Since we'd only seen the set on-line, we were in love with the patterning, but I was fearful that the fabric quality and overall appearance may be cheap or the dogs cheesy instead of whimsical (so hard to assess in professional photos). Not so- the plaids are woven, the solids are a soft, faux-velveteen and the dark brown trim has a nice, textured quality (unable to be seen in the photo). It was exactly what I wanted for my soon to be born boy! The comforter is thick and soft, and the colors are what I was expecting. The dark color in the plaid seems to be a really, really dark navy (could be black I guess), but it was exactly what I was wanting regardless. I just didn't want a room full of baby blue that I would get tired of quickly. I also bought the matching valances, diaper stacker, and mobile, and it is a great combo all together!
